I think this is probably a mistake. Pennington was the guy for the Medowlands. He got tossed under the bus when the O line couldn’t give him more than 3 seconds to throw the ball. Look at Eli; he’s got an arm but his completion percentage pales in comparison to Pennington.
Favre’s got a lot of potential to fail. He’s got to learn a new system. NY fans/media aren’t going to lavish him with love past the honeymoon. He got the adulation from Green Bay fans for all the things he’s done for them. He’s done nothing for NY and even if he did it wouldn’t matter the instant he thew his next INT.
So what happens at the end of the year even if the Favre experiment goes well? Will there be another "I’m going to retire, no wait…" mess? The Jets will need to pick up a QB in free agency or score high and lucky in the draft. They’re going to have to pick one up in the draft regardless, I’d think.
It seems like there’s high expectations for Favre and the Jets this year. As a Jet fan that’s rarely turned out to be a good thing.
My opinions, thoughts and whatnot on whatever.
